Kim is Grateful for Support in Primary Election Victory
NEWS RELEASE
SALEM, OR —May 20, 2020— “To those Oregonians who voted for me, thank you!” said State Senator Kim Thatcher (R-Keizer) after winning the republican primary election on Tuesday. “If I wasn’t on your primary ballot, I look forward to earning your vote in the general election.”
Not only did Senator Thatcher win the Republican Primary, but she may have also come out on top in the special online fusion election held by the Independent Party of Oregon (IPO).
Preliminary results indicate Thatcher came in first place, but the results are too close to call and a final tally may not be known for several days. The Senator was one of six candidates competing to be the nominee for the Independent Party on the November general election ballot. Only IPO members and non-affiliated voters qualified to vote in this primary election.
“Over the next six months I’ll be talking with voters about my plans to help get Oregon back on track if elected Secretary of State,” explained Thatcher. “As we’ve learned from the latest revenue forecast the COVID crisis has plunged Oregon into a depression which could lead to a $10 billion loss for state programs. The Audits Division can look for efficiencies, and the Corporations Division and Small Business Advocate can help businesses get going again. COVID recovery is job one if I’m elected.”
